Memphis High Girl's Golf Team - special achievement award winner 2015

Memphis High Girl's Golf Team

Why Honored: The tradition continued for Memphis on the last day of April as the girls golf team captured its fourth state title in the last eight years and third in the last four by winning the Class 2A championship at Austin's Roy Kizer Golf Course. Memphis shot a 670 to win the team title by 39 strokes over another Panhandle school, Wellington, a  District 2-2A opponent. Cassy Monzingo finished second individually after losing a playoff to Shelby Cmerek of Miles and Memphis teammate Renee Molloy finished third in the only season at the school for head coach Landon Wesley.

Quotable: "They have a strong tradition and they're always going to expect to do well. Any time you win a state championship there's something special about that and it's something you'll remember for the rest of your life. They just have a lot of dedication. The experienced girls reached down to the freshman and sophomores and really helped them."
