Shaylee Dunavin - Trampoline
Why Honored: The 2014 Amarillo High graduate landed a spot on the 2016 U.S. Olympic team as the alternate on the one-person trampoline gymnastics team. Dunavin won the trampoline gymnastics competition at the USA Gymnastics Championships in June, taking the home country gold medal and claiming the title of national champion.
Quotable: "The toughest part for me is going in to the gym even on the bad days and just pushing through it. Then, being away from my family is tought, too. But they support me in everything I do, so I'm thankful for that. The best part is I'm experiencing something new moving away from Texas. It's cool to see the outside world. I've been to nine different countries so far this year. That's kind of awesome."
