Cordell and the Lady Eagles went 30-8 during the 2015-2016 season, reaching the Class 5A regional finals for the first time in school history.

Cordell, who now attends WTAMU, was named the District 3-5A MVP, two-time Amarillo Globe News Softball Athlete of the Year, and TGCA All-State player.

Quotable: "I'm honored to receive this award. Honestly, anyone on the Canyon softball team last year deserves this award. I feel like I'm accepting this for every one on my team. We all had a role and did our jobs. That's what made us so successful last year. I wouldn't be the player I am without them. Last season was so special. I got to end my high school career with the team I've been playing with for about seven years. We made history for Canyon and last season will always be special. I wouldn't have traded any moment for the world."
