Barry Stevens - Happy

Why Honored: Stevens coached the Happy boys golf team to a 2016 Class 1A state title. In 2017, shooting a 315, the Happy boys defended their title, taking home a state championship yet again. These back-to-back championships are the only two team state boys championships in Happy High history.

Stevens led the Happy girls team to a bronze medal finish in the 1A girls state tournament. This was the first time a Happy girls golf team qualified for state. 

Quotable: "I am the beneficiary of the talent and hard work of those kids who chose to put Happy High School on the state golf map. We have a tremendous support from the parents, the community, and the school administration to help reach our goals. After winning in 2016 the boys team's win was not a surprise. What was surprising was the order of the finish but it was a total team effort. The girl's team success was very satisfying to me. We had great senior leaders and some talented underclassmen who really contributed and pushed everyone to get better. It was a wonderful season and I am a blessed man to get to continue this year. It's a great honor to be named with great coaches and athletes from the Panhandle for this award."
