Betzy Jimenez - track and field athlete of the year 2006
Betzy Jimenez - Hereford
Why Honored: Jimenez had a very successful 2006 season at Hereford High School. She won individual state titles in the 1,600m and the 3,200m events. Jimenez set a district record in the 1,600m with a time of 4:54 and a state record in the 3,200m with a time of 10:37. To top off a great season, Jimenez helped lead Hereford to a team state championship.
During her final three years, Jimenez was a part of the Texas All-State track and field team. She then continued her career at the University of Texas.
