The Canyon girls who were a part of the 1989 cross country team brought home the schools first girls cross country state championship when they clinched the 3A title.
This team started a precedent of winning for the cross country program, as the girls teams who followed the 1989 win brought home consecutive state championships in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993.
