Cherri Rapp ended her Wayland career ranked as their 14th all-time scorer, with a career record boasting 1,348 points.

In Estelline in 1966-68, Cherri teamed with her sister to win Class B state doubles titles.

She also excelled in basketball and took her talents to Wayland Baptist, long one of the top women’s basketball programs in the country. The Queens won consecutive national AAU crowns in Rapp’s sophomore and junior seasons. A three-time AAU All-American, she was named the MVP at the 1970 national tournament.

Rapp competed for eight years on U.S. national teams, including the World Games where she was team captain on the silver medal team in 1973, the Pan American Games where she was team captain on the gold medal team in 1975, and alternate on the 1976 Olympic team.

Rapp had a coaching career that included basketball and tennis at North Texas State, assistant basketball at Texas, and head basketball coach at Texas A&M from 1979-84.
