Clay Koelzer - Amarillo High
Why Honored: Koelzer led Amarillo High to their historic run to the Class 6A state tournament. In his third year as starting catcher, Koelzer led the way offensively. He batted .441 with four home runs and 43 RBIs.
During the playoffs, Koelzer drove in six runs in a 15-8 win Midland High in the first game of area play. In the second game of region quarterfinals, he drive in Amarillo High's single run to win the game in eight innings. The Sandies went on to win the series.
Koelzer played at Texas Tech and recently signed to play with WTAMU.
Quotable: "It was an amazing year and I miss playing with those guys. It's a good thing to have in the memory bank. We planned from the get-go that we were going to go far and we just set our mind to it and went for it. I'm very happy with it."
