Why Honored: Smith led the Fort Elliott football team to one of their most successful seasons in 2002. Smith and his team, playing in the 1A 6-man division, defeated Silverton 59-15 in the Bi-District round of play. They went on to defeat Witharral 28-22, earning themselves a spot in the Quarterfinals round of play.
