Darby Norman - Randall

Why Honored: In his eighth season as head coach for the Raiders, Norman lead his team to its greatest season to date. Randall finished with a record of 22-1 overall and 10-0 in District 3-5A play. This marked the Raiders' first district championship in school history and their first undefeated season in district play. Norman and the Raiders' made their fourth appearance in the playoffs and reached the area round. They were ranked No. 10 in the Texas Tennis Coaches Association poll.

The 2022/2023 school year was a historic one for Norman and his team. After winning the team tennis state title in 4A play in the fall of 2022, Norman sent seven players to the spring state tournament, a school record. In the previous 35 years, Randall High has only had 11 players total qualify for the state tennis tournament.

Quotable: "It's a great honor for our entire program. We worked hard. I've been doing this for eight years, and it has just grown. When we first started this, we barely had enough to field a varsity team. Now we have tryouts and have to make cuts in our junior high. It's our kids and parents that have made this thing work and it's just really exploded."
