Warren Hasse - Broadcasting

Why Honored: Hasse had a long career in the broadcasting business before retiring in 1981. He began his 45-year career behind the microphone. Hasse started working for both the newspaper and radio station in 1949 after his long-time interest in broadcasting. By Hasse’s rough estimate, he called between 1,200-1,500 football games, more than 1,000 basketball games, not to mention baseball, golf, and track.

Hasse called junior varsity, high school, state championships, and college games primarily in Pampa and Canyon. Hasse also called the top two classes of Texas state championship football games for 28 years, starting in the early 1960s.

Hasse broadcasted games for KAMQ, KGNC, and later bought out KPDN, owning the station until 1981.
