Why Honored: 1993 was a historic year for Texas Tech, and Gerlich was a major component in the milestone. That year the Lady Raiders won the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship, the schools first national championship in any sport.
Gerlich, the starting shooting guard for the Lady Raiders, helped lead the team to a win in each of their last 19 games of the season, leading up to the monumental championship game.
Gerlich went on to have a successful coaching career.
