Emily Brister Cooper came within 125 points of breaking the LSC career scoring record in 2009, finishing her career with the Lady Buffs boasting 2,645 points.

Emily Brister Cooper was inducted two years after her WT basketball career ended. Brister was the only player in Lady Buff history to be named a four-time Division II All-American.

She still holds 13 WT basketball records, most notably career scoring (2,645 points) and career scoring average per game (21.5). Brister started playing basketball when she was 6 through Kids, Inc. Brister was a standout at Amarillo High, averaging about 10 points a game, including 15 points a game her senior year.

At WT, she played for Bob Schneider, then Krista Gerlich. The 5’9” guard was a prolific scorer and was tenacious on defense; she averaged 3.4 steals a game in her four years at WT and holds the career steal record at 406. Brister was the Lone Star Conference Female Athlete of the Year four times. She led WT to four LSC South Division titles and three LSC championships.

In her senior season
 (2008-09), she was WT’s leading scorer in 19 of its first 20 games.
