JEFF BEARDEN - BASKETBALL COACH OF THE YEAR 2012
Jeff Bearden - San Jacinto Christian Academy
Why Honored: Bearden began his coaching career in 1963 and during his last season before retirement, he led the Lady Patriots to a Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class 3A State Championship.
That season, the Lady Patriots ended with 24 wins and Bearden earned his fourth state title in his 13 years spent at San Jacinto.
Quotable: "That's pretty cool. You can't go out any better than this. Those kids gave me the best retirement present I ever could have had. They weren't supposed to win it all, and those kids just played their hearts out. It was a pretty special year with those kids, and this is a special honor for my family. My wife (Carol) has been the best coach's wife and was there keeping our books almost the entire way. It was a fun run."
