Why Honored: 2019 was a very successful season for Williams and his Lady Sandies. Williams began the season as one of only six UIL girls coaches to have won a state championship the year prior.
The team posted a 16-0 district record. They worked their way to another appearance at the state championship, after defeating their opponents in district and regional levels of play. At the big game, Williams and his team trailed 34-28 going into the fourth quarter. The team rallied and Williams and the Lady Sandies won their second straight title, defeating Frisco Libery 47-42.
