Charlie Johnston - Childress

Why Honored: Johnston took over the Childress football program in 1967, bringing much needed change with him.

Over his 34 years with the Bobcats, Johnston recorded 315 wins and only 94 losses and 8 ties. Johnston remains the only Texas Panhandle coach to amass 315 wins at the same school.

Johnston led his teams to 9 district championships and back-to-back state finals appearances in 1975 and 1976.

Johnston remains the 8th winningest coach in Texas high school football history.

Quotable: "Childress football was not about me. It was about the assistant coaches, the players, the faculty, the parents, and the fans. When I think of the Bobcats, I think of blue and white. I think of kids who give everything they have. Kids who work hard and have never stepped on the field thinking they could not win."
