Kyra Lair - Canyon
Why Honored: Lair led the Lady Eagles to become the first softball program from the Panhandle to advance to the UIL Class 5A state tournament. They ended with a 35-5 record.
Lair is a two-time Amarillo Globe News Super Team Player of the Year and District 3-5A MVP.
Lair finished the season with a 1.72 ERA and 268 strikeouts. Her 268 strikeouts set a new school record.
Quotable: "This means a lot to me. It shows that the hard work is really worth it. I think it shows what our team accomplished last season was special and we did work hard to accomplish what we did. I'm just glad to see all of our team get rewarded for this. I'm hoping it's something we can build on this year."
