Matt Vanderburg - West Texas A&M University

Why Honored: Vanderburg was introduced as the head baseball coach for the Buffs in May of 2008. Since then, he has amassed over 275 wins, the most in WT history.

Vanderburg was named Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year in 2015. That same year, he also earned the programs first Lone Star Conference Co-Regular season championship.

Vanderburg led the Buffs to back-to-back Lone Star Conference tournament championships in 2016 and 2017. While coaching the Buffs, he has won 30-plus games per season a total of 6 times.

Today, Vanderburg is still taking the WTAMU baseball program to new heights, while also serving as a professor in the Department of Sports and Exercise Sciences.

Quotable: This honor means a lot to me. I've been in this area for 15 years now. The Texas Panhandle is home now. To be recognized with a lot of great coaches from this area is an outstanding honor for me. I have been fortunate to have a coaching staff. Coach (Cory) Hall has been with me forever. We've had some great players that have helped build our program to what it is today."
