Why Honored: Smith, a three-year starter for the Lady Sandies, led her team to a 32-5 record. Their season ended in an epic five-overtime loss to Lubbock Monterey in the regional quarterfinals, where Smith scored 32 points and made a dramatic 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to the fifth overtime.
Overall, Smith averaged 16.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Some of her accolades include All-District, team MVP, district MVP, All-State TGCA & TABC, Press Pass Sports Player of the Year, and Globe-News Player of the Year.
