Melvin Sanders - Liberal Track and Field
Why Honored: Sanders competed in the high jump, triple jump, and long jump while at Liberal High School. He won 11 state championships among those events and set three Kansas high school records.
Sanders was a two-time Gatorade National Track and Field Athlete of the Year. He went on to have a professional basketball career.
