taylor cornelius - special achievement award 2018

Taylor Cornelius - Oklahoma State University

Why Honored: Cornelius was a star quarterback during his high school years with the Bushland Falcons. During his senior year, he had a tough choice to make. He could accept a scholarship to play for a division II program, or trust in his skills and walk on to a division I team.

After going with the latter option and putting in countless hours of hard work over his first three years at Oklahoma State, Cornelius finally saw the benefits of his decision come to light. He earned the opportunity to step in as OSU’s starting quarterback during the 2018 season. He racked up 288 complete passes, with a completion percentage of 59.4% and he passed for almost 4,000 yards.

Cornelius and the Cowboys earned their spot in the Liberty Bowl, facing off against the Missouri Tigers. OSU pulled ahead, bringing home their schools first Liberty Bowl championship, winning 38-33. Cornelius was named the game MVP.
