TODD WHITTING - BASEBALL COACH OF THE YEAR 2014

Todd Whitting - University of Houston

Why Honored: Whitting is poised to begin his 9th season as Houston head coach for the upcoming 2019 season. Since his start at Houston in 2010, Whitting has coached or signed 6 First Round draft picks and 16 Major Leaguers.

In 2017, Whitting was named the ABCA South Central Regional Coach of the Year for the second time in seven years.

In 2018, Whitting led Houston to their sixth straight season with at least 36 wins. That same year, Houston earned their third American Athletic Conference regular-season title under Whitting.

Quotable: "Last year was a breakthrough year for our program, but a level that I expect us to compete on each season. Beating LSU at the Baton Rouge regional in back-to-back games was a great accomplishment. I am extremely proud of the players and coaches for the hard work that was put into last season as we fell just two wins shy of going to Omaha. I am extremely honored to be named the PSHOF Baseball Coach of the Year. To be recognized by the folks back home is very rewarding and appreciated as I am very proud of being from Dalhart and the Texas Panhandle. The opportunity that Dalhart High School, my teammates, and specifically coach Earl Smith provided me by starting the baseball program my junior year is one that I am very grateful for. This allowed me the chance to play ball in college at UH and pursue a career as a Division 1 baseball coach."
