Vic Black - Amarillo High, Pittsburgh Pirates, and New York Mets

Why Honored: Black graduated from Amarillo High in 2006, and went on to become the first AISD athlete in more than three decades to play in the major leagues. Black was called up as a relief pitcher for the Pirates and appeared in three games before he was sent back to the Triple A.

Black was then traded to the Mets in August of 2013, appearing in 15 games and posting a 3-0 record.

Quotable: "It's special and there's something to be said about having some dreams come true that you've worked for and had people invest in you. That has been something I've wanted for a long time. We're presented with these situations and what we do with them is our choice. It's a cool thing because not a lot of people understand what minor league baseball is like."
