Wes McPhail - Tascosa

Why Honored: McPhail, a Texas A&M signee, set a Tascosa record at the Region I-6A cross country meet. McPhail placed second and finished the 3.1 mile course in 14 minutes and 28 seconds.

His time of 14:28 is the fastest time at that distance ever ran by a Tascosa and Amarillo-area athlete. 14:28 would have won the top classification at the Region I cross country meet in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

McPhail also won the District 2-6A title, winning by 25 seconds over second place.

Quotable: "I'm so thankful for this award. It has nothing to do with the performances that I get to display my talent that God gave me. It has everything to do with the work put in day in and day out that not everyone sees that pushes me to these performances. I pride myself in my work more than my PR's. This is why I'm thankful for this award."
