Amarillo High Boys Basketball 1986 Team
The Amarillo High boys of the 1986 team accomplished a feat not replicated in the years since: bringing home a State Championship. No other AISD boys team has captured a state title. Very few have even reached the state tournament.
The 15 player team, under the direction of Coach Allen Simpson, defeated Dallas Kimball, 68-63, on March 8, 1986. The team played before 9,000 fans at the Frank Erwin Center.
