The team opened their season with 17 consecutive wins, with their first loss coming to district rival, the Canyon Lady Eagles. After suffering the loss to Canyon and only one other in the regular season, the team rolled through the first three rounds of playoffs, finding themselves at the regional finals, once again facing Canyon.

After beating the Lady Eagles in their second matchup of the regular season back in January, they knew they had it in them to pull out a historic win. After pulling ahead in the fourth quarter Amarillo High won 34-27 and found themselves on the way to the state tournament.

Once there, the team defeated Temple 48-34 in the semifinal matchup, setting the stage for a championship opportunity. In the finals Amarillo High faced no. 1 Mansfield – a tough opponent by all accounts. But, it wasn’t enough to stop the Lady Sandies, who went on to win 59-54.
