Bobby Scott

Before Bobby Scott was officiating basketball games in front of 53,000 people, he was the only athlete ever to letter in football, basketball, baseball, and track at Arkansas State.

Scott went on to play minor league baseball for six years, making the all-star team in each league and batting .300 or better every year except his rookie season. The shortstop-second baseman finished his career with the Lubbock Hubbers.

Scott coached at all four Amarillo high schools and served as assistant athletic director to De Walker. Scott worked the Missouri Valley Conference for many years and became supervisor of officials in the early 1970s.

He also worked “split crews” in many other major conferences around the country, frequently appearing on national TV games.

He called the NCAA Final Four championship games in 1970 and 1972.
