Canyon High School & Canyon Community

Why Honored: Tragedy hit the city of Canyon in October when longtime Canyon school teacher Debbie Crenshaw and 10-year-old Canyon favorite Tatum Schulte passed away within four days of each other due to cancer. Crenshaw was a popular math teacher, coach (volleyball, basketball, track), and mom of three. Schulte touched the lives of thousands, showing courage against cancer by first beating it back and handling the amputee of a leg. The Schulte's started a movement called #tatumtough that raised thousands of dollars to help kids. Through all these tough times the Canyon community supported the Crenshaw and Schulte families with their time, hugs, and donations.

Quotable: "With us doing the Tatum Tough Foundation it's nice for us to still get the chance to talk to people and hear stories from people who have been influenced and had their lives touched by Tatum. The support we have received is amazing. This is a huge honor to be part of this and we, like the Crenshaw's, are grateful."
- Travis Schulte, Tatum's dad and Canyon High boys basketball coach
