Chad Fox - Gymnastics

Why Honored: Long before Chad Fox graduated from Palo Duro High School, he was well on his way to unprecedented accomplishments in the world of trampoline, tumbling, diving and later gymnastics. In his mid-teens, Fox was winning gold and silver medals in acrogymnastics in Japan and power tumbling in Paris while competing internationally on an annual basis in different acrobatic disciplines.

By age 19, Fox had won 14 national titles in trampoline, mini-trampoline and acrogymnastics, and three world tumbling titles. At the University of New Mexico, Fox was told if he won an NCAA individual title, he would get a scholarship. He did much more than that.

Fox made NCAA history as the first male gymnast to win four individual titles on the same apparatus when he won titles in the vault from 1986-89. In 1987, Fox also added an NCAA title in floor exercise to the vault, becoming the first UNM gymnast to win
two national championships in the same
year.
