Brad Wieck - San Diego Padres & Chicago Cubs

Why Honored: Wieck is a native Amarillo resident, having attended San Jacinto Christian Academy during his high school years. He found major success on the baseball field and would go on to build a professional career in the sport.

Wieck made his Major League Baseball debut on September 14, 2018 for the San Diego Padres. That September, he pitched in five games, striking out 10 batters and only allowing 1 earned run in 7 innings.

He was eventually traded to the Chicago Cubs on July 31, 2019. Wieck would finish that season only allowing 4 earned runs in 10 innings. In May of 2021, Wieck pitched the seventh and eighth innings of a no-hitter for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, striking out five batters over two innings.
