Amarillo ISD Closes Gyms for the rest of 2020

Monday, November 9, 2020
Revised 9:00pm, Monday, November 9

Parents & Coaches,

Late this afternoon, we received word from Amarillo Independent School District officials that they are no longer allowing outside groups to utilize their gyms effective immediately due to the increase in Covid-related cases. We have been informed that this decision will remain in place at least until the end of the year.

Our plan going forward is as follows:

BOYS BASKETBALL

Kindergarten, 1st Grade & 2nd Grade Leagues
The only gyms we have available at this time are the AAYC and the Wesley Community Center. Our Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade leagues will continue to play as scheduled.

3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, & 7th/8th Grade Leagues
Since these leagues are scheduled in Amarillo ISD gyms, we are forced to cancel these leagues at this time. Please give us a couple of days to get our refund process in place and we will notify everyone in these grades as to how to request your refund. Thanks so much for your patience.

ALL VOLLEYBALL LEAGUES

Since these leagues are scheduled in Amarillo ISD gyms, we are forced to cancel these leagues at this time. Please give us a couple of days to get our refund process in place and we will notify everyone in the volleyball leagues as to how to request your refund. Thanks so much for your patience.

INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUES

All indoor soccer leagues scheduled at the Bus & Freda Dugger Sportsplex will continue to be played as scheduled.

We thank you for your patience during these difficult times.

A message from the president & CEO Regarding Refunds

November 10, 2020

Parents & Coaches,

As you know, we received word yesterday from Amarillo Independent School District officials that they are no longer allowing outside groups to utilize their gyms effective immediately. We wanted to get the information out as soon as possible. In the process, we failed to appropriately address the issue concerning refunds for the leagues affected.

Kids, Incorporated has always made every effort to treat our customers with fairness and respect. We know that you have choices as to how you spend your family's discretionary funds. We are always grateful when parents allow their children to participate in our programs.

While we are out the cost of one full weekend of gym rentals, officials fees, gym monitors, commercial insurance, credit card fees, game shirts, and our staff's administrative time and effort, we are going to refund 100% of the fees for players in grades 3-8 of our Boys Basketball program, and for all players in our Volleyball Session 2 program.

Our Boys Basketball season for Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade, will be played as scheduled at the AAYC gym and the Wesley Community Center.

In order to process refunds as promptly as possible, please complete our online Refund Request Form by clicking here. This will provide us with an electronic paper trail to ensure that each customer is taken care of properly and efficiently.

My hope is that this gesture on our part will solidify your trust in our program. I have served as the President & CEO for Kids, Incorporated for the past 25 years. As long as this company operates on my watch, we will always strive to take the high road when it comes to fairness and decency. This time, it just happens to come at a significant cost for the organization.

I want to thank you for your business. As we approach the holiday season, I wish you and your family only the best. May we be worthy of God's grace and mercy in the very near future to bring an end to this horrible pandemic that has severely affected us all.

My very best to each of you. Happy Holidays from all of us at Kids, Incorporated.

Sincerely,

Jimmy R. Lackey
President & CEO
