Why Honored: Burns led the Lady Raiders to a state tournament appearance in the 2019 season, ending with a state runner-up title. That season, Burns' first with the Lady Raiders, she was honored as the District 3-5A Coach of the Year, with a record boasting over 40 wins.
Burns and her Lady Raiders were unsure how the 2022/2023 season would go. After losing eleven seniors the previous year, as well as several players to the new West Plains High School, Burns began the season with only one returning starter. All of this aside, Burns led her team to the Class 4A State Championship title, the second ever for the school and the first since 2009. At the state tournament, Burns captured her 200th and 201st career wins.
