KEITH FLOWERS - INDUCTEE #23

hall of fame fast fact:

Keith Flowers' brother, Clyde Flowers, played football at TCU in 1941-1944 and is PSHOF inductee No. 62.

Keith Flowers

Keith Flowers of Perryton became one of the best linebackers in Horned Frogs history.

Flowers was a halfback in high school and he helped lead the 1947 Perryton Rangers to an undefeated season.

Flowers followed his brother to TCU. At 6-foot, 198-pounds, Flowers was a captain and was considered the emotional leader of the 1951 Frogs. His ability to chase down ball carriers from sideline to sideline set him apart from other linebackers. The Frogs claimed the Southwest Conference championship and the host spot in the Cotton Bowl. The Frogs ranked 10th in the United Press International poll. Flowers was named the game’s outstanding defensive player, and later the all-time Cotton Bowl team.

He was named to TCU’s all-time team in 1995 by Texas Football magazine, and he was inducted into the TCU Lettermen’s Hall of Fame.

Flowers played one NFL season, splitting time between the old Dallas Texans and the Detroit Lions.

Keith Flowers died in 1993.
