PRICE BROOKFIELD - INDUCTEE #69

hall of fame fast fact:

Price Brookfield

Friona’s 6-4 Price Brookfield became a high-scoring forward on arguably the best basketball team in WT history. During the 1941-42 season, the Buffs finished 28-3 and Brookfield earned All-American honors.

Brookfield is listed in the top 10 in seven WT individual scoring categories. Brookfield is WT’s third-leading career scorer with 1,406 points.

After earning all-Border Conference honors, Brookfield left WT in 1942. He played professionally for a year and then went into the service.

At Iowa State University, as part of the Naval Air Force’s V-5 program, Brookfield made the All-Big Six team, making him one of the few players ever named all-conference in two leagues. After leaving the service, Brookfield played in the National Basketball League for five years.

Brookfield later coached basketball, golf, and baseball.

He was 86 when he died in 2006.
