ROSEMARY THOMPSON - INDUCTEE #76

In addition to her great golf year in 1976, Canada-born Rosemary Thompson became a U.S. citizen. After moving to New Mexico, she worked with her husband at Albuquerque Valve and Fitting Co., serving as "treasurer and everything else."

Rosemary Thompson was the top female golfer in the Texas Panhandle region in the 1970s. She was recognized as Golfer of the Year on the cover of Arizona Golf magazine in 1990.

Thompson loved golf from the first time she picked up a club at age 7 all the way through her 200 championships and 12 holes-in-one. She has a 6-handicap. Her biggest thrill was winning the National Seniors in Tucson in 1992 at age 50, with a record 220.

Native of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, Thompson spent years in Amarillo winning virtually every major local tournament several times and challenging course records. She was a five-time city champion in Amarillo and won the West Texas Women’s Championship four times. Thompson was the winner of the Texas State Amateur Championship in Brownsville and titles at Tascosa Country Club, West Texas Women’s, Publinx of Texas, and the Amarillo Country Club Partnership.

Her all-time best round was a 66 at the Women’s West Texas in Plainview in 1974.
