Why Honored: Pecchia began his coaching career in 1948 in La Grand, Oregon. He coached football, basketball, and baseball.
In 1951, Pecchia moved to Amarillo and served as head baseball coach while also assisting Bum Phillips as football coach.
Pecchia continued to coach in Amarillo for ten years.
