Zada Swoopes, West Texas A&M University
Why Honored: Swoopes capped off her legendary career at West Texas A&M University in the best way possible: with some new hardware. During the 2022 indoor track and field season, she brought home a national championship title in the shot put, breaking the LSC and her own school record with a throw of 58'.025".
Swoopes was not done yet. During the 2022 outdoor season, she earned yet another national title. This time, in the discus, with a throw of 186'6", beating the runner-up by an astounding 24 feet. This throw also broke her own school record and was the third-best in NCAA Division II championship meet history. She also helped lead the Lady Buffs to a team national title, earning 25 of the teams 77 total points.
Overall, Swoopes finished off her career at West Texas A&M University with seven various national titles across both indoor and outdoor seasons and was named an All-American in three different events a total of 14 times.
